We probably don’t need to tell you that (our) olive oil tastes amazing. But there’s more! Because besides the fact that extra virgin olive oil elevates your dish in terms of flavor, it’s also packed with nutrients. This means your dish instantly becomes a lot healthier. But what exactly are the nutritional values of extra virgin olive oil?

Nutritional Value of Olive Oil

In a previous article we explained that olive oil contributes well to a healthy diet. But how so? On one hand, because of its nutritional value — these are the present bioactive compounds, healthy fats, and antioxidants. On the other hand, olive oil – especially Gkazas extra virgin olive oil – contains no sugars. Below you’ll find the nutritional value of olive oil per 100 grams.

  • Fat: 100 grams of olive oil contains 99.8 grams of fat. That may sound unhealthy, but about 85% are unsaturated (healthy) fats. Read more about that here.
  • Carbohydrates: Olive oil contains only 0.2 grams of carbohydrates. Not all carbs are unhealthy, but when it comes to sugars, we advise avoiding them. The fact that olive oil contains none is definitely a plus.
  • Sodium: Olive oil also contains sodium — 1 gram, in fact. That’s great, as sodium helps maintain proper fluid balance in the body, regulates blood pressure, and supports muscle and nerve function.

The above information is based on the Dutch Nutritional Value Table, which is focused specifically on olive oil. That this table gives olive oil a health rating of 8.3 already says a lot. Gkazas Olive Oil is extra virgin olive oil — the even healthier variant. Extra virgin olive oil contains healthy unsaturated fats, antioxidants, and is rich in vitamins. Heating olive oil is also completely safe. That completes the story. All in all, olive oil can be a great addition to living a healthier life.

Trying to lose some weight? Then extra virgin olive oil is definitely a good addition to your diet. It brings several health benefits, since olive oil is healthy — but only if it’s the best quality olive oil.

  • Sitting: Believe it or not, but even by just sitting you can burn off those 15 grams of olive oil. It will take a bit longer — about 96 minutes. So if you’re not patient, we wouldn’t recommend this method right away.
  • Vacuuming: Not only do you burn off the olive oil, but you’re also being super productive. About 40 minutes of vacuuming and you’ll have burned the 15 grams — plus your house will be sparkling clean.
  • Cycling: The weather’s finally nice! Hop on your bike and you’ll burn off the 15 grams of olive oil in just 20 minutes. A win-win situation for sure!
  • Walking: Or skip the bike and just walk to the store. Before you know it, the oil is burned off — just 24 minutes!
