What is pomace olive oil
Did you know that there are 4 types of olive oil suitable for consumption? The types are olive oil, blended refined olive oil, pomace olive oil, and inedible olive oil. In this article, we focus on pomace olive oil. Want to know more about the types of olive oil and what you can do with them?
Okay, so what is pomace olive oil? This is a type of olive oil made from olive pulp. After pressing our (organic) extra virgin olive oil, fresh pulp remains. We make our pomace olive oil from this pulp in a natural way.
What does that production process look like? We heat the pulp to 60 degrees Celsius. This way, we extract raw pomace olive oil. We then filter and steam it without any chemical processes. To give this pomace olive oil more flavor and healthy nutrients, we add 10% organic extra virgin Gkazas Olive Oil. So, it’s a 100% pure and natural product where nothing of the original product is lost! Now, you know what pomace olive oil is and how pomace olive oil is made.
By the way, you can also produce pomace olive oil in a ‘more efficient’ way. To refine raw pomace olive oil, hexane can be used. This is done in many cheaper pomace olive oils. Hexane is a chemical substance that is not suitable for consumption. We’re not fans of that, which is why we do it the natural way!
