  • What is pomace olive oil?

    After our organic extra virgin olive oil is produced, fresh olive pulp remains. We create pomace olive oil from this pulp in a completely natural way. To enhance the flavor and nutritional value, we add 10% organic extra virgin Gkazas Olive Oil. This results in a 100% pure and natural product, with nothing of the original product going to waste!

  • How is pomace olive oil made?

    First, we heat the high-quality fresh pulp to 60°C. This allows us to extract the raw pomace olive oil. Next, the margarines are removed, and the olive oil is filtered twice and steamed. Finally, we add 10% organic extra virgin Gkazas Olive Oil. This way, nothing from the original product is lost. The result? An olive oil with a mild flavor that can be safely heated up to 260°C.

  • Can you bake with pomace olive oil?

    Yes, because our pomace olive oil can be safely heated up to 260°C. Due to its mild flavor, you won’t notice (much) of the characteristic olive oil taste, which makes pomace olive oil perfect for stir-frying, for example. Additionally, you can enjoy the health benefits, as research shows that pomace olive oil is healthier for baking and frying than coconut oil, sunflower oil, and canola oil.   • Which olive is used to make the olive oil?

    Our Greek olive oil is made from the Psilolia Koroneiki olive. This is the olive that grows in our Cretan olive groves. You can find more information about the Koroneiki olive.

Greek olive oil, just the way the Cretan farmer eats it.

Every winter we harvest our Cretan olives. First, we carefully tap them out of the tree by hand. The olives are collected in nets so that we can separate them from the leaves and branches. At the end of the day, all the harvested olives are brought to the press together in jute bags.

The olives are washed, ground and cold pressed the same day at a local presser on Crete. We immediately have organic extra virgin olive oil as the end result. A pure and honest family product full of taste and passion!

After a (considerable) period of self-filtering, the olive oil is bottled and transported by truck to the Netherlands. In the Netherlands we deliver the extra virgin olive oil with our own courier service by car or cargo bike.
